Wastewater quenching thirst in Israel
26/08/2008
In Israel, water is a vital issue. Farming is the sector which uses the most water in this country which is partly desert and to face its needs, the country has set up several techniques which include reusing wastewater for farming. The Shafdan plant, created by the government, is at the heart of an extensive sewer water reprocessing and water purification program. 20 000 hectares of earth are thus irrigated in the whole country and 70 % of sewer water is recycled.
