When lorries take the train -

Since September 2007, lorries can board trains between Perpignan and Luxembourg. The Lorry-Rail company has installed a 1 060 km piggyback line; each train can take 40 38 ton articulated lorries. There are many advantages: speed, lesser pollution (as the trucks are not circulating, the do not emit anyCO2), less road congestion, lesser wear of equipment, safer, etc. The piggyback system is a service which is unfortunately not offered on many routes in France.
