Beneath the Montmélian sun
26/08/2008
The city of Montmélian in the Rhône-Alpes serves as a pioneer city in France when it comes to development and using renewable energy. Indeed, in 1983, it has installed solar panels to produce electricity and hot water. Cooperation between the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), l’OPAC (Office public d'aménagement et de construction) and the city council have made it possible for 10 % of the energy consumed by the city to be provided by the solar energy produced on the spot.
