Our animals have an impact on the environment, just as we do. Two Australian researchers calculated the ecological footprint of cats, dogs and other pets according to what they eat – mostly meat, which emits a lot of CO2 – and the space required to produce their food. They discovered that a dog has an ecological footprint that is twice as large as a 4×4’s and a cat has almost the same footprint as a Golf Volkswagen… If they are fed with canned meat, at any rate. But it is now possible to have one pet or more and be a responsible pet owner by feeding them with leftovers or fresh food. And by giving them quality food, without chemicals and especially without GMOs, pet owners can help protect the environment as well as increase their pets’ life expectancy by 2 years.
