Satish Kumar was born in 1936 in the state of Rajasthan. At a very young age, he started to follow in Ghandi’s footsteps and to defend the principle of “non-violence.” In 1962, he undertook a “peace walk” from his country of origin to the four nuclear corners of world (Paris, Moscow, London, and the U.S.). Since 1973, Kumar has lived in England and has become editor of the environmental magazine “Resurgence,” which publishes articles promoting subjects such as sustainable development and renewable energy. Satish Kumar founded the Small School in the United Kingdom and is Programme Director of the Schumacher College.
