Olivier Godard is currently a research director of economics at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). In 1998 he joined the econometrics laboratory, part of the École Polytechnique de Paris and CNRS, where he has conducted research in a number of areas including the precautionary principle, the future of emissions within the framework of Kyoto and acid pollution as well as the gathering of scientific expertise on controversial problems (such as mad cow disease). He is involved in coordinating a new association for sustainable development, created in 2003 by the École Polytechnique with the support of French electrical company EDF.
