Jean-Michel SEVERINO has been CEO of France’s international development agency (AFD) since 2001. After graduating from the Ecole Nationale d’Administration and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, Mr Severino was in charge of international development at France’s Ministry of Cooperation and International Development. He worked for the World Bank from 1996 to 2000, first as Director for Central Europe, then as Vice-President for Asia. He was part of a high-level panel that studied system-wide coherence in development, humanitarian assistance and the environment. Mr Severino also contributed to White Paper Commission on France’s foreign and European policy.
