Jacques Véron is a demographer and researcher, specializing in the links between population and sustainable development, particularly in India, and in the history of population. He is the deputy director and international relations director of the National institute of demography studies (Ined). He is the author of numerous books including “ L’urbanisation du monde”(La Découverte, 2006), in which he analyses the problems caused by urbanisation, stressing the importance of a lifestyle more respectful of the environment. Jacques Véron is also a member of several scientific circles, and has been a member of the French delegation at the UN commission on population and development since 1992.
