The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) is an organization created by the United Nations (2001). Its objective is to contribute to the improvement of humans’ well-being within the context of conserving ecosystems. This assessment required the cooperation of more than 1,360 experts and scientists from throughout the world. Its conclusions are presented in the form of summary reports and technical volumes describing the state of several large types of ecosystems, as well as solutions to restore, conserve, and use them in a sustainable manner.
