Greenpeace is an international NGO focused on the defence of the environment, created in 1971. This association is present and active in 40 countries. Nowadays it counts nearly 3 million members all over the world. To maintain its independence, Greenpeace refuses donations from governments and businesses. It only accepts members’ donations. As a world organisation, Greenpeace deals with ecological problems it considers the most critical on the planet scale : protecting the oceans and the ancient forests ; stopping the use of fossil fuels and promoting sustainable energies in order to halt global climate change ; nuclear disarming and the end of radioactive contaminations ; eliminating toxic chemicals ; preventing the dissemination of Genetically modified organisms (GMO) in nature.
