A French company in Clermont-Ferrand has developed a hydroelectric micropower plant which can be used with waterfalls that aren’t very high. It is called the Aqualienne. According to its creator, the turbines were designed not to damage the plants and the wildlife and guarantee a zero death toll for fish. A first prototype, with strength of 40 kW was installed on a river in the south of France where an old factory used to be.
