Straight from the farm

It is a worldwide phenomenon : they have been called « Teikei » in Japan since the 1970s, « Community Supported Agriculture » in the United States, Canada and in the United Kingdom since the 1980s and AMAP (Association pour le Maintien d’une Agriculture Paysanne) in France since 2001. These are farms that sell their produce directly to consumers. These customers pay for their weekly baskets of fruits and vegetables in advance and thus support the small farms. Production is guaranteed to be organic and local. There are at least 1 300 farms like this in North America. In 2006, French AMAPs supplied 600 000 people with produce.
