Recycling cooking oils

Since 2006, used cooking oil from the fast food chain McDonald’s is collected and recycled in 95 % of restaurants in France, which represents 7 300 tons a year. These oils are cleaned and then sent to Germany where they are turned into vegetable oil methyl ester, or biodiesel which can be used as fuel for vehicles and for heating.
