A second life for Christmas trees

Published on: Last updated:

The Brussels-Capital region in Belgium has recycled its Christmas trees since 1995. This is how in January 2007, 180 employees of Bruxelles-Propreté gathered 210 tons of conifers. The compost made from the trees is sold on to gardening or farming companies. On the dates indicated by the press and the Internet, the Christmas trees have to be taken out of their pots and stripped of their decorations and put out in front of each house.
