Solar panel rental in rural areas
26/08/2008

« Electricity Now » is a rural area electrification project in Brazil which is based on a solar panel rental system. For a monthly fee of 10 to 24 $ per household, the inhabitants can operate their lights, radios, televisions, water pumps and phone chargers. On average, each system provides 6 to 7 hours of light a day and a few hours of television and radio. The electrification of the countryside helps limit rural depopulation and the development of favelas.
