Fertilizing the desert
26/08/2008
The agricultural engineer, Philippe Ouaki Di Giorno developed the "Polyter" in the 1990s It is a small granule which acts as a water reservoir and vegetal food supply and it facilitates the growth of plant and trees « on any soil », even in the most arid and most desert regions. Water demand is therefore halved. Three grams are enough for a litre of land.
The Polyter has been used in Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania (reforestation in arid zones), in Egypt (olive groves) and also in Morocco (market gardening).
