Marc Ona Essangui
Marc Ona Essangui est né au Gabon. Atteint d’une poliomyélite depuis son enfance, il se déplace en fauteuil roulant, un handicap qui l’a contraint à renoncer à devenir avocat car les locaux de la faculté de droit à Libreville étaient à l’époque inaccessibles aux handicapés. Il s’engage alors, au début des années 1990, dans la vie associative en représentant d’abord les infirmes au Conseil économique et social gabonais. En 1994, il créé l’association Handicap sans frontières, et intègre ensuite le Programme des Nations Unies pour le Développement (PNUD) en tant que consultant du programme Information, éducation, communication (IED). Depuis, il a fondé, dirigé ou représenté une dizaine d’associations dans son pays, et est notamment aujourd’hui à la tête de la coalition Publish What You Pay (« Publiez ce que vous payez ») qui milite pour la transparence des revenus pétroliers et miniers ainsi que de l’ONG Brainforest.
