The Danish government have acknowledged the significant impact of pesticides on the environment, observing particularly a decline in biodiversity proportionate to the amount of phytosanitary products used. In 1986, the country launched its first Pesticide Action Plan, leading to a reduction in application frequency of pesticides from 3.1 at the start of the 1990s, to 2.1 between 2001-2003. 2009 will mark the end of the 3rd Action Plan with the aim of an application frequency less than 1.7: a reduction of almost half in 20 years. |
In 2004, farmers used 2kg of pesticides per hectare compared to 0.49kg in 1961. Les pesticides se retrouvent dans nos aliments, dans l'eau des rivières et dans l'eau souterraine, dans l'air, dans les sols, dans la biomasse vivante et morte, dans le sang et dans le lait maternel...Selon l'OMS, 3 millions des personnes par an souffrent d'intoxications graves liées aux pesticides. Ces substances provoquent des effets néfastes, même à de très faibles niveaux d'exposition, et peuvent causer des cancers, perturber le système hormonal, baisser la fertilité, provoquer des fausses couches ou affaiblir le système immunitaire. Cependant, on ne connaît presque rien des effets à long terme des pesticides sur notre organisme. |
