Founded in 1982, made up of environmental lawyers, the organisation plays a consultative role for the Council of Europe within the framework of various agreements and partnerships with CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research) and INRA (National Institute for Agronomical Research). CIDCE was awarded observer status by UNESCO in 1990 and by the United Nations Sustainable Development Commission for conferences in Rio (1992) and Johannesburg (2002). In 2004, the organisation became an observer for the ESPOO Convention (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe), and a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). |
